Mazda’s SUV lineup to grow by year end to 7 models

David Berthon

In recent years Mazda has had enormous success with SUV’s – its ageing small CX-3 and mid-size CX-5 still showing sales growth however its relatively new CX- 60 and CX-90 are slow sellers in a tough market – their higher pricing point finding some resistance with family SUV buyers struggling with cost-of-living pressures. The big question, whether Mazda as a brand, after so much success with its CX-3, CX-5, CX-8 and CX-9, can push into premium territory with higher pricing – its CX-60 and CX-90 now priced above many potential family buyers. It will soon complete the rejuvenation of its large architecture models with the new CX-70 and CX-80 SUV’s and says it has no qualms about maintaining sales volumes. The good news is the next generation CX-5 SUV will arrive next year; one hopes at a competitive price point. I’m David Berthon.
