Mazda CX-9 coming to the end of the road

david berthon

One of our most popular large SUV’s, the Mazda CX-9, finally comes to the end of
its model life towards the end of this year replaced by two new SUV’s – the CX-90
and CX-80. A firm family favourite the CX-9 has achieved more than 50,000 total
sales in the last seven years. Last year alone it proved very popular with 6400
finding homes with large Aussie families. What is evident is that the next breed of
Mazda SUV’s is going to carry significant price lifts – the new CX-90, the largest
Mazda SUV ever sold here with in-line turbo six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines
will start from $74,385, more than $26,000 dearer to the cheapest version of the
current CX-9. The top of the line CX-90, the petrol Azami, will be priced from
$95,185 making it the second most expensive Mazda ever sold in Australia.
