Kia’s small Seltos SUV – Improve with 2023 updates

Kia upgraded its small Seltos SUV for 2023, the first model arrived in 2019 and
gained a strong following however the competition in the small SUV segment has
intensified since then so the refresh is welcome. The new styling and interior
most improved while the higher 4WD grades gain a new 1.6-litre turbo engine and
a new 8-speed torque convertor automatic. There are four Kia Seltos grades, the
S, the Sport, Sport Plus and GT Line. I drove the 1.6 litre turbo GT-Line all-wheel
drive automatic at $47,690 drive-away – The latest Kia Seltos’s high point is a
very well sized cabin for a small SUV and the 2023 update brings a welcome new
digital dashboard – instrumentation clarity about as good as it gets while seat
comfort and general cabin storage rate highly, rear seat legroom excellent, well
served with air vents and a pair of USB charge points. 433 Litres of luggage
space and the fitment of a full-size spare wheel. Disappoints no wireless
connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, annoying warning sounds for
speed limit overrun and no seat height adjust on the passenger seat, an all-too-
common annoyance on many SUV’s. But an excellent 7-year/unlimited kilometre
warranty. I’m David Berthon
