Jim Haynes’ not-so-famous Aussie characters

Mike Jeffreys

Michael is joined each week by Aussie historian, author & entertainer Jim Haynes, for his unique knowledge of the not-so-famous characters from Australia’s history.

This week Jim shines the spotlight on…

William Walker who was born around 1790 and over the years also went by the names Captain Waldon and William Brown.

But it’s for his alias William Swallow for which he would become infamous — a pirate at the heart of one of Australia’s greatest convict escape stories and for leaving a trail of confusion that has taken almost two centuries of research to unravel.
