Is our “half-bubble” with NZ enough?

New Zealanders are dusting off their suitcases and booking flights down-under as international travel resumes under the ‘Australia-NZ travel bubble’.

Although the news has been welcomed, many are wondering how keeping borders closed to the rest of the world will impact our economy?

Summer bushfires, major flooding and now, the coronavirus pandemic have taken a huge toll on Australia’s tourism industry, with the Australian Bureau of Statistics recording a plunge in overseas arrivals by 99.6% in April.

CEO of the Tourism & Transport Forum, Margy Osmond, joins John Stanley to discuss the importance of managing risks before “opening the floodgates” but assures us that “recovery is a reality”.
