How are gut health and heart health linked?

John Stanley

This is a fascinating area that might sound like futuristic science fiction – but there is now increasing studies and evidence that there are definitive links between gut health, and brain health – and links that work both ways.

The gut is home to trillions of good and bad bacteria and can produce chemicals with a direct impact on your brain while similarly the brain can talk to the gut because there is a communication and signalling system between the two.

This concept that you might have a ‘brain in your gut’ is revolutionising medicines’ understanding of the links between digestion, mood, health and even the way people think.
‘Mind health’, ‘gut health’, and ‘heart health’, and how these influence and talk to each other are being discussed at a free Health & Wellness online Webinar by 3 Sydney Adventist Hospital medical specialists on Thursday night 3rd December.

Gastroenterologist Dr Eliot Roach joins John Stanley to talk ‘gut health’.
