Holiday pool safety warning: 87% of parents worry, but many let their guard down

Phil O'Neil

With 51% of drownings in Australia last year occurring in backyard pools, a new report for Check Your Pool Gate Month reveals that 87% of parents worry about pool safety at holiday rentals—yet many admit to being less vigilant when staying away from home.

The MagnaLatch® Pool Safety Report shows 1 in 5 families have faced a pool-related emergency, with 87% involving children. Unsupervised pools (33%) and propped-open gates (28%) are common risks that can be prevented with simple precautions.

Clinton speaks with Laurie Lawrence, founder of Kids Alive and Check Your Pool Gate Month ambassador, about staying pool-safe during the holidays and protecting kids near water.
