Holden’s classic car collection to find a new home

David Berthon

Holden may have ceased local production at the end of 2017 however interest in the brand remains very high – one only had to see the Holden flags waving at Mount Panorama last month when Chaz Mostert’s Commodore took the chequered flag. Prices on rarer Holden performance cars have also firmed and continue to grow.

Holden’s own classic car collection which has been in moth balls will shortly find a new home. According to General Motors Specialty Vehicles MD, Marc Ebolo keeping the past General Motors Holden memories alive is part of the plan to move forward, confirming “We need to make sure we preserve our heritage and classic Holden collection.”

Just where the classic fleet of Holden production vehicles, one-offs and prototypes will be housed is yet to be announced but will more than likely be in Victoria. One hopes the collection will still be able to be accessed by the Holden fans in a museum environment.

I’m David Berthon.
