Health Matters: Michelle Gardiner on San Cancer Support Centre
Did you know one in every two Australian men and women will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85? According to the Cancer Council, in 2020, it was estimated that there were just under 150,000 new cases of cancer diagnosed in Australia.
A diagnosis of cancer can be accompanied by intense emotions including shock, fear and anxiety for the patient and family members. Sydney Adventist Hospital provides support for all those in the community affected by cancer, primarily through our San Cancer Support Centre.
The San Cancer Support Centre was founded in 1993 and has been providing a wide range of services to the community, including support groups, education, counselling, workshops, bereavement support, and resources and information ever since.
San Cancer Support Centre Coordinator Michelle Gardiner joins Luke Grant to share more information about this amazing facility.
