Great leaders encourage their team to disconnect from work

Clinton Maynard

The Australian government is contemplating enacting a law granting employees the right to disconnect from work beyond regular hours.

Mike is joined by workplace expert Steve Sharp, who advocates for making this a legal requirement, emphasizing that great leaders prioritize work-life balance. He highlights that in effective teams, members contribute during pressure situations, but also value personal priorities such as family, friends, and rest.

Recognizing that consistent off-hours work damages commercial performance and reputation, Sharp asserts that leaders who understand the importance of disconnecting foster high performance, while the contrary leads to issues like low engagement, absenteeism, turnover, and health problems.
