Gough Whitlam’s Cabramatta house for sale

Clinton Maynard

Manuel Roussakis, director at Ray White – Canterbury, joins Michael regarding the sale of former Prime Minister Gough Whitlam’s modest four bedroom house.

Gough and Margaret Whitlam owned the Cabramatta house from 1956 until 1978, which includes his time as PM concluding with his dismissal in 1975.  It was designed for Mr Whitlam and he was known to conduct media interviews at the property.

Heading to auction later this month with a price assessed between $720,000 and $750,000, it has already seen political diehards flock to Sydney’s south-west to inspect the unassuming home.

Mr Roussakis says, “It’s a slice of history, a mid-Century classic, that gives good insight into the architecture of the time.”
