Former figure skater details ‘systemic abuse’ at the hands of coaches

Clinton Maynard

Since the release of the documentary series Athlete A on Netflix, gymnasts from around the world have begun to speak out about the physical and mental abuse they were subject to from their coaches.

A worldwide call for the International Olympic Committee to do more to protect vulnerable young girls has started to gain momentum.

One of those leading the call is 19 year-old Jessica Shuran Yu. Jessica, a world championship figure skater, was born, raised and trained in China. She has since gone public describing the horrific conditions she was made to train under.

Jessica joins Clinton Maynard to share her experience and how she feels about the sport now.
