Forest industry crucial to cutting carbon

Forest industry participation in the carbon market is being hailed as essential for the Federal Government to achieve its ambitious emissions reduction targets.

The Australian Forest Products Association says the nation’s plantation estate has shrunk by 230,000 hectares over the past five years.

Rural reporter Meg Van Lohuizen spoke with the Association’s chief executive Ross Hampton, to find out what incentives are needed for farmers to consider more tree plantations.
