More than 5,000 livestock, and close to 6,000 kms of fencing have been lost through fires in New South Wales during the past week.

Following the Sir Ivan Fire, there was a quick response with natural disaster relief and recovery assist loans and grants made available for farmers.

Rural Reporter Eddie Summerfield spoke with Rural Assistance Authority Director John Newcombe about the program.
