Fighting superbugs with artificial intelligence

We know technology has helped progress medical research for generations, but a new generation of technology could be a catalyst in the fight against superbugs.

It’s called SuperbugAI, and the project is touted to harness the power of technology to help diagnose, treat, and prevent one of the most pressing worldwide health issues – antimicrobial resistance.

The team of researchers from Monash University has been awarded $3.4-million in funding to further develop our next weapon in the fight against superbugs. Professor Anton Peleg leads the research, and joins John Stanley to explain how understanding a superbugs genetic code is crucial in protecting our own.
