Federal Government investment into homelessness ‘falls short’

The Federal Parliamentary Inquiry into homelessness in Australia has backed a 10-year national strategy to ease the housing crisis.

However, it failed to recommend the Federal Government super-charge any real action to end homelessness and the housing  affordability crisis, despite highlighting the urgent need to increase access to social and affordable housing to reduce homelessness.

Kate Colvin, acting CEO of the Council to Homeless Persons, joins John Stanley to discuss the inquiry and how older Australians in particular are becoming more vulnerable and being pushed to the brink of homelessness because the rising cost of rent is consuming more and more of their income.
