Extra taxes will place burden on housing developers

Clinton Maynard

Luke is joined by Anita Hugo, Property Council of NSW’s Acting Executive Director, who wrote a piece for the News Corp papers last week saying, NSW is facing the worst housing shortage in a generation, and with a new wave of taxes on the horizon it’s only set to get worse.

On behalf of the Property Council Ms Hugo appeared last week in front of a Parliamentary Inquiry examining a new Bill that will impose broad-based charges on all developments within Greater Sydney, Central Coast, Lower Hunter and the Illawarra Shoalhaven.

She made the point that if the Housing and Productivity Contributions Bill passes the NSW Parliament, detached dwellings in Greater Sydney will cost an additional $12,000 to deliver with apartments to cost an additional $10,000.
