‘Evidence points to a pilot hijacking’: Byron Bailey on Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370

Luke Grant

Byron Bailey is challenging the Chinese government to continue the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, as the official search draws to an end.

The aviation expert says searches to date have been misguided.

“It’s obvious that it’s located about 100 odd kilometers south of where it ran out of fuel,” he says.

“But the Australian Transport Safety Bureau has just ignored what we’ve said. The search ended 200 kilometers north of where we know the airplane ran out of fuel. How does that make sense?”

“(The location of the plane) is obvious. But they just will not search there. I can’t explain what the hell is going on, unless they just don’t want to find the airplane.”

Bailey suspects a pilot hijacking is responsible for the flight’s downing and hopes a Chinese search take-over might speed things up.

“They made a tentative effort several years ago, but they didn’t really get serious. I think they thought that the search they were running through the ATSB would be successful. But it wasn’t.”
