Elusive seed deposited in grain gene bank

An elusive native sorghum seed has been collected, and deposited in Australia’s Grains Gene Bank in Horsham.

A week long collecting mission in the Northern Territory saw the specimen of Sorghum grande finally obtained and now filed away.

The trip through Katherine and Kakadu National Park saw 21 new populations of wild sorghum, rice, mungbean, and pigeonpea joining the extensive collection…
