Dr Edwin Szeto: Theranostics Service and Lutetium-PSMA therapy
The San has recently welcomed to its Radiology and Nuclear medicine department a new service – Theranostics.
Theranostics is a personalised approach to treating cancer using both therapy and diagnostics. The first therapy that will be used by the service is for men with advanced prostate cancer called Lutetium-177 Prostate Specific Membrane Antigen aka “Lutetium-PSMA” therapy. This therapy is used when the disease has spread, and other treatments have failed or been poorly tolerated.
The theranostics service at San Radiology & Nuclear Medicine commenced in March 2021, with a dedicated theranostics area within the imaging department which will enable the dedicated team to treat up to three patients at any one time in a safe and comfortable environment.
