Disappointing driver behaviour around schools at drop off time

Motor Torque

I was drawn to a letter to the editor in the local Hills Shire Times regarding driver behaviour when dropping their kids off at school. It reinforced my own observations on this area of driving around my local primary school.

Some parents attitudes to care for other road users and kids while they drop their own kids off beggars belief. Quite clearly many parents drop their kids off on their way to work, time constraints together with congestion around the school entrance creates frustration and caution is thrown to the wind. Selfish driver behaviour of the worst kind that can only lead to death and injury. I see it on a regular basis, parents dropping their kids off on a corner for example where small children and poor visibility are a recipe for disaster. It’s getting worse and surely more policing on the part of the police and the parents and citizens associations is required to ensure child safety. I’m David Berthon
