The new-generation Ford Ranger ute has been the most anticipated new model release since the start of the pandemic over two years ago.

As I reported several weeks back, pent-up demand saw it gain 20,000 pre-release orders while such is the model’s appeal Ranger sales now represent 70 percent of Ford Australia’s business with Ford setting up a special website to update customers on Ranger wait times.

Disappointing  news emerged this week from a number of early customers suffering tailshaft vibrations which must be deeply worrying for Ford Australia. Owners of both four-cylinder bi-turbo diesel and V6 turbo-diesel variants have reported the problem with a Ford spokesperson suggesting the company was working on a fix while dealers have now been told to conduct pre-delivery test drives as a part of the quality control process.
