Crime File: Jodie, the Queen of the Con Ladies
There was a time from mid 2005 until late 2006 in eastern Australia when it wasn’t a good look to be named Jodie for the simple reason that there was a con-woman out there on the loose in three states named – depending on who she was robbing at the time – either Jodie Harding, Jodie Pearson-Harding or Jodie Kilroy. At one stage this female felon was so hot that an innocent woman was dragged from an interstate flight and questioned by police, simply because her name was Jodie!.
And when the police finally caught up with the 28-year-old con-lady her real name was – you’ll never guess – Jodie, as in Jodie Harris! It seemed as though she could get away with just about anything even though she never changed her first real name.
And in the end it was the Jodie factor and her extraordinary obsession from a very early age with police, police uniforms and police boyfriends, that was her undoing.
