Concerns over new water laws

Rural News

Farmers and irrigators are pushing for the New South Wales Government to make urgent changes to new water management laws.

Reforms include new offences covering metering, and new tools for the regulator including mandatory audits.

The most contentious law is changes to the water sharing plans, giving the minister of the day the power to embargo water take for environmental management.

Rural reporter Eddie Summerfield spoke about the reforms with New South Wales Irrigators Chief Executive Mark McKenzie:
