Citroen Cactus One-tone automatic
The Citroen Cactus hatch remains one of our more unusual small SUV’s – with its prominent side cladding protection it stands out in a crowd. With Citroen and Peugeot now distributed by the British Inchcape Group both brands are in a somewhat state of flux. A total dealer re-alignment and a change of model direction has seen both French products suffer this year.
Citroen sales are down 33 per cent and Peugeot by 18 percent. The Cactus range has been reduced to just one model – the 1.2-litre three cylinder petrol automatic One-Tone at 29,990 drive-away and I recently spent some time with it – a far nicer package to the 2.0-litre petrol robotized manual and 1.6-litre diesel auto that launched the Citroen Cactus here some two years ago. The 1.2-litre three-cylinder Pure Tech engine is an absolute gem – in fact it was recently awarded the engine of the year for the third year in row – three cylinders equating to great torque and fuel economy.
