Christian Porter’s trial by media

Mike Jeffreys

Chris Kenny, The Australian newspaper Associate editor (national affairs) & Sky News host of the Kenny Report & Kenny On Media, joins Michael to discuss the media’s treatment of the Christian Porter allegation which he says shows that if you’re on the conservative side of politics then you are “presumed guilty”.

Christian Porter has strenuously denied the rape allegation saying it “did not happen” and PM Scott Morrison says an inquiry would imply the police are not competent to deal with this issue.

Mr Kenny says, “Trial by media is obscene, and so is trial by politics, and when they work hand in hand, truth falls victim to vengeance and justice is tossed aside for the headlines.”
