Chinese built MG brand to launch four new electric vehicles over the next five years including a sports car

David Berthon

The arrival of our most affordable battery electric vehicle, the compact MG ZS EV SUV – at $43,990 drive-away quickly saw the first 100 vehicles snapped up by eager buyers. Featuring the same high level of specification that has made the petrol ZS a popular buy the ZS EV provides a potential range of 263 kilometres. It’s 44.5 kilowatt battery can be charged overnight on a standard domestic socket or while on a rapid supercharger can reach 80 per cent of capacity in just 45 minutes. MG Motor Australia plans to launch four more electrified vehicles over the next five years. According to CEO Peter Ciao, the company’s focus is to make electric vehicles accessible to everyone – likening the brands 10-year plan to a three-course meal – with traditional vehicles the entrée, electrification the main course with dessert to come in the form of a sportscar taking MG back to its roots.
