Calls for federal government to fix the property market

Luke Grant

While the COVID-19 pandemic has placed intense strain on many people’s finances, house prices across the country continue to rise excluding many first home buyers from entering the market.

Property Council Chief Executive Ken Morrison says the supply and demand equation needs to be fixed.

He says, international borders will reopen, population growth will return, and domestic market pressures will continue driving prices up over the long term.

On the topic of government intervention, Ken says the government and opposition need to put housing affordability on the table at the next election. They need to discuss incentives with the state governments to get the supply side of the equation right.

Property Council Chief Executive Ken Morrison joins Luke Grant to discuss housing affordability.
