Bastille Day used to relaunch French Film Festival

Luke Grant

Today the Alliance Française French Film Festival relaunched for its 31st season. After having to prematurely close due to COVID-19 the Festival is back and it’s opening coincides with Bastille Day.

Known as Fête nationale in France, the day celebrates the storming of the Bastille, which was a military prison. The uprising helped usher in the French Revolution.

Alliance Française Brisbane Director Luc Didon joins Luke Grant with a thick accent unpacking the deep culture that is celebrated on this day.
