Aussies treat themselves to new cars despite cost of living crisis

Clinton Maynard

Clinton Maynard is joined by Tony Weber, Chief Executive of the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries, to discuss latest figures that show Australia experienced a thriving new-car market in 2023 despite being in a cost of living crisis.

The impressive outcome, with a record-breaking 1,216,780 vehicles delivered throughout the year, defied concerns about interest rates and the overall cost of living.

This marked the largest achievement in the history of the new-car market, surpassing the closest previous year, 2017, which saw 1,189,116 vehicles delivered.
