Aussie curlers Dean Hewitt & Tahli Gill back home

Luke Grant

Luke Grant is joined by Aussie curlers Tahli Gill & Dean Hewitt back in Australia fresh from their appearance at Beijing on Ice.

Our first ever curlers were at the centre of extraordinary drama when Tahli tested positive for Covid-19 but was allowed to compete after medical intervention – she’d had the virus before, so it was thought the test showed viral shedding.

It was extraordinary, hours after announcing they were leaving the Winter Olympics early due to the positive test, the mixed doubles team claimed two historic victories over the Swiss and the Canadians.

It was Australia’s first-ever win in curling at the Winter Olympics, they won 9-6, the victory coming after seven straight losses.  The second win was a 10-8 win over the defending champions Canada.
