As Cedars Grow by David Brown & Richard Broome

John Stanley

Writer David Brown chats to John Stanley about a heartfelt true story about a young Baynie family, Anthony & Alma and their two young daughters, who migrated to Australia in 1925 from Bane, a tiny village in the mountains of North Lebanon.

The book charts the Baynie family’s journey by ship from Lebanon to Australia, describing the many travails they encountered along the way.

The family settled in Thornleigh, in North West of Sydney.

David Brown is the eldest grandson of Anthony and Alma Baynie. He co-wrote the book with his lifelong friend Richard Broome.
