Aged care & the budget.  What else needs to be fixed?

On the eve of the Federal budget, Michael is joined by Ian Yates, Chief Executive of COTA (Councils on the Ageing) Australia, to discuss John Frydenberg flagging an injection of more than $10bn into Aged Care following the Royal Commission’s damning report of neglect.

 

Key among actions that Mr Yates hopes to see initiated in the next year are increased transparency from aged care providers, minimum staffing levels, wage increases for workers, stronger powers and a more versatile toolkit for an independent quality regulator, and a new rights-based Aged Care Act.
