A new low in Australian politics

Luke Grant

A Tony Abbott campaigner has been assaulted at a school on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

NSW Police have arrested and charged a man who yelled abuse at several volunteers who were erecting political material, before thrusting a corkscrew at the stomach of a 31-year-old man.

After causing a minor injury to the volunteer, the man then started ripping down political banners and then fled the scene.

Federal Vice President of the Liberal Party, Teena McQueen, spoke to Luke Grant about the incident.
