Researchers believe a forgotten grain could open up new markets for farmers.

Millet is mainly grown to feed livestock rather than people, but a study shows eating the grain can help manage blood glucose levels in people with Type 2 diabetes, and reduce the risk of developing the condition.

Rural reporter caught up with International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics’ Joanna Kane-Potaka to hear how millets could serve as a climate-smart alternative.
