A cost-effective technique to monitor soil moisture

It’s hoped a new technique for testing soil moisture could help improve irrigation technologies in agriculture.

A team at the University of South Australia has used a video camera, which analyses the differences in soil colour, and connected it to software that’s been trained to determine moisture content.

Rural Reporter Sophie Clarke caught up with Engineer Professor Javaan Chahl says to hear more about the pilot study.
