Ben Fordham is calling on the Prime Minister to apologise to former Australia Post boss Christine Holgate after she received a standing ovation for a scathing speech.

She delivered a speech at the CEO Magazine’s awards ceremony, speaking on being “roadkill for the Prime Minister”.

Scott Morrison told her to stand aside after she rewarded four executives with $5,000 Cartier watches.

She had the authority to award bonuses of up to $150,000 per executive.

“The Prime Minister … instead of gaslighting her, he should call her … you need to say sorry.”

In her speech, Christine Holgate said: “I became the victim of cynical politics, the victim of a complete failure in governance standards, and more than anything, the victim of bullying and humiliation.

“That this happened on the national stage, over a sustained period, only amplified my distraught over this period.

“Even worse than the events you all saw, were the months of being silenced and the months of threats.”

She also reveals how she contemplated suicide after being bullied in Parliament.

“I’ve openly spoken about how I felt.

“How I didn’t have the will to live and I could not see the light anymore.”
