Sydney drivers face a sharp rise in petrol prices right before the Australia Day long weekend.

This price hike comes despite expectations of a price drop, intensifying cost of living pressures even further.

“Some servos put their prices up as much as forty cents a litre, with the average already up two or three cents,” reported Peter Khoury from the NRMA.
