There are growing calls to have Shane Warne knighted.

The petition is calling for the constitution to enable honours to be granted after someone has died.

If Warne doesn’t receive a knighthood, the alternative detailed in the petition is the “Companion of the Order of Australia”.

Ben Malouf told Ben Fordham “Sir Shane Warne just sounds right”.

“You name a cricket playing nation and I reckon that I’ve received an email from somebody saying ‘what a wonderful idea’.”
