Peter V’landys provides health update on two injured jockeys
Two female jockeys have been seriously injured in as many days after falling from their horses during a race in NSW.
Apprentice jockey Elissa Meredith sustained critical head injuries after falling from her mount Starlink
The 26-year-old was flown to John Hunter Hospital in critical condition.
Leah Kilner was also critically injured in a similar fall at Grafton racecourse, in the state’s northeast.
The 24-year-old’s horse Stella’s Turn collapsed right before the finish line.
ARL Commissioner and NSW Racing Boss Peter V’landys told Mark Levy, unfortunately “these things do happen”.
Mr V’landy’s provided an update on the jockeys saying “they’re progressing very well.”
