Peter Dutton denies Voice funding ‘blue’ among Liberals
Peter Dutton insists he’s not at odds with some of his party colleagues over funding for the Voice to Parliament referendum.
The government has agreed to send voters pamphlets that detail the bill and make cases for both sides of the debate ahead of a vote later this year.
While the Liberal Party led the push for pamphlets, there have been suggestions some of its members aren’t on board with the spend.
Simon Birmingham this morning told the ABC he’s “not keen to see large licks of taxpayer funding spend on running campaigns”.
Ray Hadley: “There is a blue, and even within your own party.
“I think you might have a varied opinion as Leader of the Opposition.”
Peter Dutton: “No, I mean, I made this point yesterday in a press conference.
“The amount of money that was given to each case in a public referendum in ’99, from memory, was about $7.5 million.
“You’re not talking $100 million each for advertising campaigns.”
