Peter Dutton and Ray Hadley clash over coal

LISTEN TO THE FIERY INTERVIEW

Ray Hadley has confronted Peter Dutton over the government’s refusal to step in and build coal-fired power stations.

The Home Affairs Minister says the government is looking at multiple projects to establish the most efficient energy resource.

But Ray pushed him to clarify his position on coal.

“The question is whether the government should be building a coal-fired power station,” says Mr Dutton.

“I don’t agree with that, I don’t think we should be.”

He says although the government does not plan on opening any more coal-fired power stations, they have no plans to close them down.

“There are existing coal-fired power stations that are providing baseload and that needs to continue.”

Listeners flooded the openline with angry calls about Mr Dutton’s position, with Ray saying it’s clear the minister is singing from Scott Morrison’s songbook.
