Detectives are investigating a break and enter in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, where a young girl was indecently assaulted.

The 8-year-old girl was asleep in her bed when a man climbed through the bedroom window, sometime between 1.30am and 4.30am.

He indecently assaulted the child, then left the Kingsford home before the girl went and told her mum.

Police were called and have obtained a statement from the young victim.

He’s described as having an Australian or English accent and between 170cm-180cm tall. He was wearing a dark hooded jumper, cargo pants and a hat.

Police have since released CCTV footage of the man climbing through the bedroom window.

NSW Police Superintendent Karen McCarthy tells Ben Fordham police are doing everything they can but need the public’s help.

“It is a very serious matter.

“Police have been canvassing the streets and the surrounding areas all this morning.”
