Swim schools are putting the call out to hire new instructors following the NSW government’s backflip on indoor pools.

A coalition of operators are celebrating the “common sense” decision to allow classes to begin the Monday after the vaccination rate hits 80 per cent, weeks ahead of the original date.

Swim classes, aqua aerobics and competitive swimming will resume, but indoor pools will still reopen to the general public on December 1.

Carlile Swimming General Manager Jon Harker there’s now another hurdle for swim schools to overcome as they ramp up to full capacity.

“The thing we need to do now Jim, is attract more teachers back to swimming.

“We’ve lost so many, because they’ve lost so much work in these lockdowns.”
