The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is promising an end to the crazy long queues at the passport office.

They’re set to overhaul the collection system.

Multiple listeners have been waiting for over 10 weeks to receive their passports and have contacted Ben Fordham Live to keep their thousands of dollars in holiday bookings.

Passports will now be issued from a ground floor ‘pop-up site’, instead of the overcrowded area upstairs.

According to the Daily Telegraph, numbers in the queue are also expected to fall, as new call centre staff are brought in.

It’s hoped the changes will dramatically reduce the queues by the end of this week.
