‘Park the politics’ – McLaren’s request to protestors as Israel President visits Sydney
Michael McLaren has called out a cohort of pro-Palestine protestors, including a couple of Labor MPs, who plan to gather later today to protest the arrival of the Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
He’s pointed out that the same group is often silent on other issues, including the Iranian Ayatollah’s sanctioned killing of his own citizens, and they focus on the Israeli people, not the government.
“If the supposed crime at the centre of Herzog’s statement is the crime of conflation … to separate the evildoers from the broader population, well, then surely many who plan to protest today stand accused of the very same,” he said.
“How often have we heard slogans about Israel rather than Netanyahu’s government … How often have we seen random Jewish sites attacked, rather than anything particularly associated with the government of Israel?” he added.
