The nominations for the 92nd Academy Awards have been announced, with Australian actress Margot Robbie receiving her second nod.

Joker came out on top as the most-nominated movie, followed by The IrishmanOnce Upon a Time… in Hollywood, and 1917 (full list of nominations HERE).

Australia’s chances sit firmly on the shoulders of 29-year-old actress Margot Robbie, who has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Bombshell.

It’s the second nod for the former Neighbours actress, who was previously nominated for her leading role in I, Tonya.

“There’s a good chance Margot could be holding a statue this year,” says managing editor of Screen-Space Simon Foster.

Australians Nicole Kidman, Toni Collette, Eliza Scanlen and Lee Smith missed out on being recognised.

Streaming service Netflix emerged as the big winner, receiving the most nominations of any studio.

“Netflix is really changing the way the studio system works in Hollywood,” Simon Foster tells John Stanley. “They actually lead the nominations with 24 nominations this year.”
