The Australian Federal Police is investigating claims a hacker demanded a $1.5 million dollars ransom to stop the sale of the stolen data.

Breakfast listener Casey told Chris she has not been informed about anything from Optus on what personal information may have been taken.

Optus Director of Corporate Affairs Regulatory and Public Affairs Sally Olerich has struggled to explain what’s happened to Chris Smith.

Chris Smith: “Sally why hasn’t Casey got a email from Optus? Who said you’ve contacted everyone who you’ve thought have had their data compromised?”

Sally Oelerich: “As a result of this attack.”

Chris Smith:¬†“You’re saying Casey’s scenario doesnt fit the circumstances!?”
