The Today Show host Georgie Gardener has opened up in an emotional interview about the scrutiny she’s experienced since stepping into the role. 

A Daily Telegraph article claimed secret focus groups revealed viewers perceived Gardner as “inauthentic” and an “ice maiden”.

In a statement, Channel Nine labelled the article a “deliberate act of bullying”.

Georgie opens up to Ben Fordham about her struggle with the article.

“It’s no secret, Daily Telegraph writing outright lies about me.

“Coming in at 4 o’clock in the morning, and being confronted with that, was very tough, I’ve got to say.

“Probably one of the lowest times I’ve ever had while I’ve been on air.”
