Olympic Gold Medalist believes historic decision is a ‘good stepping stone’

Clinton Maynard

3x Olympic Gold Medalist Emily Seebohm believes the decision to ban transgender athletes from competing “gives clarity” and is a “good stepping stone”.

Swimming’s world governing body made the historic decision to ban transgender women in races today.

Their new policy requires swimmers to have transitioned before the age of 12 in order to compete against women.

The rules will only apply at FINA-sanctioned events, including the Olympics and world championships.

Emily Seebohm told Jim Wilson the decision today “is just the starting point”.

“There is more to come, and it’s a good stepping stone.”
